The media landscape so often focuses on the negative side of news. In an effort to be a part of the solution, I decided to report on the good that is out there in the world of sports. So, every Monday – Thursday, I provide the good sports news via Snapchat. What you see here is the recap of my story. Sorry Alabama fans, this one is about Clemson.
Hi All and Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday – it already feels like forever ago. But, happy to be back with more good sports news.
So, tonight is the College Football Championship, and I thought that this would be a good story to go along with it. Sorry to all Alabama fans, this story is about the Clemson quarterback.
Clemson QB Deshaun Watson didn’t have it easy growing up. He grew up in government housing with his mom in Gainsville, Georgia which is about an hour outside of Atlanta.
Many kids surrounding him were in gangs, and doing whatever it took to help get food on the table and money to help out their family. Who knows what may have happened if it wasn’t for the help of Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn.
Dunn was involved with Habitat for Humanity, and helped build the house that Watson and his family would move into.
Receiving a house from Habitat requires work from the family, and when their time came, Watson walked up to the house that would soon be home and Dunn was there to greet him.
And, that had a huge impact on him. Watson is still paying it forward from that moment.
During Clemson’s only bye week during the 2016 schedule, the QB along with his teammates and coaching staff could be found sweating it out working to build a house for Habitat for Humanity.
This is a great story about paying it forward, and how your acts of kindness can truly impact the lives of others. It is always great to see someone who hasn’t lost sight, and seeing them continue to pay it forward. You never know how your acts of kindness will impact someone, but when it has this kind of impact, that is just great to see.
That is it for today’s good sports news! Thank you for watching, bye!
